In addition to its booth at Thailand Game Show 2024, SEGA surprised fans with a dedicated meet-up event for Sonic Fan in Thailand.
The event, held at True 5G Pro Hub in Siam Discovery, was open to lucky fans selected through a special application process. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities and had the opportunity to meet Kazuyuki Hoshino (Creative Director of the Sonic series) and Shun Nakamura (Producer of Sonic Frontiers) up close.
Highlights of the event included interactive activities like Q&A sessions, coloring, lucky draws, and hands-on demos of “Sonic X Shadow Generations.” Attendees also had the chance to delve into the behind-the-scenes development of “Sonic X Shadow Generations” such as the character design of Shadow, and ask questions about the game, like what Amy Rose might be like as an adult or the backstory of the Eggman family.
Aside from the launch of “Sonic X Shadow Generations,” SEGA also unveiled a new game slated for winter release: “Sonic Rumble.” This 32-player online competitive game features customizable characters and regular updates. Both Sonic X Shadow Generations” and “Sonic Rumble” were available for demo at Thailand Game Show 2024.
The event concluded with the announcement of a partnership between Sonic and AirAsia. An Airbus A330 (flight D7 170) has been decorated with Sonic themes and will serve over 100 destinations, including major cities in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, and Sydney. Passengers can enjoy exclusive in-flight experiences like Sonic-themed meals and limited-edition merchandise. AirAsia will also introduce Sonic-themed products, including Sonic’s Golden Ring Cakes, on its flights.
Hoshino also revealed plans for additional Sonic-related activities in Thailand, such as exclusive merchandise, collaborations with other brands.
SEGA will continue to showcase “Sonic X Shadow Generations” and “Sonic Rumble” at Thailand Game Show 2024, which runs until October 20 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Tickets start at 150 baht.
